Hi all, Regarding AV software for the Server and desktop, how does everyone use GFI Mailsecurity andor Download Security. Do you go without server/desktop AV because GFI is protecting the network gateway, or do you still have seperate AV software?
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave,
I'm not using Download Security, so these comments are for MailSecurity.
I do not have any other A/V software running on a mail relay with MailEssentials and MailSecurity, not recommended - although I'm not thrilled with this either. The server has a sole purpose, to relay email, so it "shouldn't" be an issue. Keep up with regular OS updates and patches, hope for the best...
Yes - desktop A/V software most certainly.

Hello,
We utilise Norton Antivirus on the mail relay server for desktop protection. However, we have excluded the processing folders for Mail Essentials and Mail Security - freeing those up for the respective AV products within each program to deal with.

Dave, I have the same answer as MikeC. I just make sure all of my other servers/workstations are current with their dat files and I NEVER use Internet Explorer on my mail server ever, ever, ever.
