After installation I understand it will only copy all new messages coming in after journalling is set up. The past 5 years of mail won't be brought into the SQL database.
Is there a way to bring all "pre-install" mail into SQL? [ January 04, 2005, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: a10 ]

I just posted a question about this too, with a possible (untested) solution:
You could use Exmerge to export all the EXISTING messages (either leaving a copy or removing them entirely) to a PST file or series or PST files. Then use exmerge to import these PST files into the archive mailbox that MailArchiver polls. The only query is how then does MailArchiver handle the permissions on those messages for viewing in the web client?
Anyone from GFI have a suggestion or comment?

Existing archives export is not currently supported by GFI MailArchiver. However there are several workarounds:
Yes, you can use exmerge to export messages to the mailbox MailArchiver polls. However only Inbox will be polled.
Another solution is to configure a public folder for archiving (and post only permissions) and then copy/drag-and-drop messages to that folder.
Permissions will be defined by sender/recipients addresses (MIME) like it is done with regular archiving (without Envelope Journaling)

Yes, an import utility would make this product 10 times better. I would like to tell my users that they can pretty much clean out all the clutter and keep those really important messages. I can't though, have had mail archiver running only 3 weeks.

HI,
Why not simply drag the messages from PST folders to the users' Inboxes, and thus back into the Exchange environment for GFI to pickup?
