I think I have a little insight into this one - as I recall from the doc, there is something in there about the way it checks and it checks an actual page - say, if the default page for a site is default.asp, it looks at that page - even if that page forwards to somewhere else. So if you are checking an asp or aspx page that returns nothing by itself, but rather forwards to another page, it might fail.

I monitor some applications that use a page, let's call it xyz.aspx, as the default in the directory. In directory A, xyz.aspx sends parameters, then returns content as xyz.aspx. In directory B, xyz.aspx returns no actual text, but forwards to abc.aspx. An availability check on directory A is successful, an availability check in directory B fails.

Looking at OWA, the default.asp in the root of the folder, it is a redirect to the Exchange folder, and then it does some hinky Microsoft/Exchange stuff, because there is nothing actually in that folder. So I am betting that the way GFI checks web pages, OWA would fail. Probably the same thing with SharePoint.

AvAdmin,
thanks again for your interest.
I gave up searching for the reason of the problem, and I gave up hoping to get solutions from GFi support after playing 1 month of email ping pong.
I added a little empty html-file in the root dir of one of the web sites I need to check, and now I check the availibility of THIS file. This works, and this has to be good enough for now.

I confirm what AvAdmin has said. Currently, Network Server Monitor will only check the first page that is returned after trying to connect to the configured site. If you are checking the contents of the page, that may fail, since the first page may not have the phrase that you are expecting.

We are currently still checking further on this issue.

Thank you.
