Generic SNMP monitoring check issue - 4.May2005 6:19:00 AM

I've created an Generic SNMP monitoring check for my mail server (Communigate Pro) and if I choose monitoring now I get the following error:

Queuing check...
The check is being loaded by the engine...

Result: Failed
Explanation: Failed to obtain the specified OID's value

If I use another MIB browser (Ireasoning for instance), all the data is received properly for the same OID and the same Community string....

In both cases I can see the SNMP data leaving my mailserver when I check the log file of my mailserver.

GFI Network server Monitor
version 6.0
build 20050318

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Hello Xavier,

If you use the sample rule, and change the name to the machine being queried, what happens? Do you get any errors?

As a test, you can use LNSS to SNMP walk and check if the string queried is what they are expecting.

Hi Patrizia,

because our mailserver has his own SNMP server, it's is impossible to use the sample rule because only the OID for the mailserver is recognized... so I decided to turn of the SNMP server in my mailserver, install the Microsoft SNMP on the W2003 box en test the sample rule... it gives me the same error as the one I had with my mailserver... the SNMP walk was perfect!

Hi xavier,

Please try the latest build and see if you still have the problem.

Best regards,

Calin
