Ikiro -> Send Messages from Mail server (3.Dec.2003 12:04:00 PM)

From the "Messages Test" I do not succeed to send messages to customers not of my local domain
Also I have inserted the authentication.
Error description : Requested action not taken, mailbox unavailable (mailbox not found)

You should ensure that the SMTP server configured is configured to accept these messages.

Most probably, the machine running NSM is not allowed to relay through the server. Therefore, it will accept messages for your local domains, but not messages for other domains.

Where are you getting the error:

"Error description : Requested action not taken, mailbox unavailable (mailbox not found) "

It is recommended that the Sender's email address is configured to an email address that exists. So if the message cannot be delivered, the NDR messages will be sent to the sender's email address.

Excuse but smtp server allows to send to others domains. Perhaps there is a problem of the NSM with the authentication ??

What is the SMTP server that you are using? Does it require authentication?

Does the recipient's email address exist? The error seems to indicate that the recipient's mailbox does not exist. You can check this from NSM -> Notification settings -> Email Recipient List.

Use smtp of Exchange 2000. It require authentication The recipient' s external email address exist but is one email not of my domain. Thanks

You need to enable relaying on your SMTP server for your local domain.

Go to your Default SMTP Server properties, access tab, Relay..., Add, and make sure it says "Only those below". Choose Group of computers. Add your range of IP adddresses.

This should allow your internal computers to relay to external domains through that SMTP server.

If you try sending an email address in your domain, do you get the problem?

Ikiro -> RE: Send Messages from Mail server (12.Dec.2003 11:36:00 AM)

At the moment I prefer not to qualify the relay. Message for nicks: if I send a mail to address of domain it is worked.

I think that it is actually a relaying problem then, since normally a mail server would not allow somebody to relay emails to an external source. Can you try the procedure from grandmasterphil?
