I have GFI LanGuard 9 installed and running on Windows Server 2008 Standard x64. Currently when I boot my machine and login the response time is very slow, when I go to Task Manager I see the lnssatt.exe consuming 98% of the CPU. When I kill the process the server instantly starts responding again.

Any idea why this is happening?

Did you have any scheduled scans configured?

We will need to see some log files in regards to this issue so we can understand why. Can you open a support request online at: http://support.gfi.com/Support/supportrequest.aspx?lcode=en

Once done, please post the GFI- case number here so we can update the forums with the resolution.

I had a similar problem with Windows Server 2008 x64, constant 99% CPU for lnssatt.exe. This happens even on idle use, i.e. there's no scheduled scans running or enabled.

The problem occurs only if "Patch Auto-Download" is enabled and "Number of download threads" is more than 1 and system has only one CPU.

If I disable "Patch Auto-Download" the lnssatt.exe drops down to 0-5% CPU after a minute or so.

If I give the system more CPUs (it's a Citrix XenServer Guest VM, the Host system is running on a Dell server with 4x4 physical CPUs), I can bump up the download threads to 10, and the lnssatt.exe stays at 0-5% CPU on idle.
