I have GFI MailEssential 12, latest version on the same machine of Exchange Server 2003. In my mailstore I have some internal mailbox (such as rersources) that I'd like to remove from SPAM control and then from License count. Is it possible this? Thanks in advance, Luigi

svllgu, If you open the GFI MailEssentials 12 configuration and bring up the properties for the General node how many tabs do you see?

Luigi, This means you have GFI MailEssentials installed in AD mode. In this mode GFI MailEssentials will count any user that is present in AD that has a defined email address. The only way to get them to not be counted would be to remove them from AD. You can reinstall in SMTP mode and that will give you another tab under general labelled User Manager. This will give you direct control in removing users from scanning. When you have GFI MailEssentials installed in SMTP mode the software only counts users that send out messages via SMTP. You can read more about this at http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID002577.

What about the Inbound Email Domains tab? Does this have any affect on licensing in either AD or SMTP mode?

wjhaase, If you removed the domain from inbound domains there would be no spam scanning done for messages that were sent to any users at that domain.

It seems like that only works in SMTP mode. Is there a way to see the list of mailboxes that are being filtered?

Interesting; on face value this appears good value for small installations. Although this is out of the scope of the forum, I'd be interested to hear of your experience. Contact me off-list if appropriate.

I don't have your email, so I can't contact you off-list. I set it up by changing MX records and modifying my firewall. The whole change took an hour total. So far, it's a night-and-day improvement, but it's not fair to judge a service one day of operation.
