Sir, I really want to stop gfi webmonitor service by DOS command, and I don't want to stop it in windows services console, just like IIS. e.g. iisreset.exe /restart. I asked your sales, they told me that this product has a specific command to achive. Please help me to resolve it.

Windows has a command built in that can stop almost any service called "sc.exe" You can typically use "sc.exe stop ServiceName" to achieve this. You can see more details by opening a command prompt and typing "sc.exe /?"

In command line, I noticed the switch "pause" & "continue", how about the functions of them? May I can replace "stop" & "start" by them?

You will want to use sc stop ServiceName to stop services, and sc start ServiceName to start them again - Pause is not recommended.

After I use the cmd "sc stop wmonsrv", the console status is ok (can't be opened). But I noticed the data will be written into specific folder (C:\Program Files\GFI\WebMonitor\Proc) during I'm surfing. And the data will be written into SQL also. I tested it twice or more, the result puzzled me. My purpose is to stop recording surfing data. Please help me.

Do you simply want to stop recording the data, or do you wish to stop all filtering and monitoring completely?

There is no easy way to do this at this time. You would need to stop the GFI WebMonitor service, copy the existing configuration database out and replace it with one that has the SQL reporting disabled, then start the service again. When you wanted reporting to start up again, the reverse process needs to occur, stopping the service, switching the two configuration database files, then starting the service again.

Dear DrewE, My scenario like below: Firstly, I disabled reporting in monitor console. But in the "C:\Program Files\GFI\Webmonitor\Proc", the subfolder will be generated automatically & simultaneously when anyone surfing Internet. Even if I use "sc.exe" to stop Wmonsrv service, the subfolder will be generated automatically. So the data will be written into SQL. I thought the ultimated issue is how to stop subfolder generate in the "Proc" folder. Please give me some advice. Thanks a lot.

The proc folder is written to when GFI WebMonitor starts and stops, along with many times while it is running - There may not be any way around this.

Hi DrewE, I don't know what's the meaning of stopping webmonitor service if we use "sc stop wmonsrv" in command line. The console page can't be opened, nothing more! The original data still be written into Proc folder. It puzzles me.

You may need to stop the plugin from the MS ISA Server Configuration - I do not have any details about stopping this manually from a command prompt. You would need to research MS ISA documents on how this can be done (if at all.)
