Hello,

Everytime someone on the network tries to send a fax through mapi, there appears events 7031, and 2x 7034 on the fax server...which kills and restarts the smtp, iis admin and exchange routing engine. I have downloaded and installed this patch from Microsoft found in kb827214 which is supposed to correct this problem. It has solved nothing, to my dismay.

Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this? Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As mentioned, I have already applied the patch found in this article (kb827214) and rebooted. This does not seem to have fixed it. [Confused]

Again, thanks inadvance for your help.

I have a similar problem with faxmaker 12 , with windows 2003 and exchange 2003 , both standard english version .
When i try to send a fax , "inetinfo.exe" version 6.0.3790.0 crashes with event id : 1000 in the module "tnefunpack.dll" version 10004.1117.0.4 . I see the following message in the application log once or twice per second. I stopped all exchange services and smtp service and I believe that the message stopped being logged when I stopped smtp.
I have already installed the ms04-35 patch before installing faxmaker .

The message in the application log is:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Exchange Server
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 03/12/2004
Time: 15:26:36
User: N/A
Computer: LCADC1
Description:
Faulting application inetinfo.exe, version 6.0.3790.0, stamp 3e8000f7, faulting module tnefunpack.dll, version 10004.1117.0.4, stamp 419a2014, debug? 0, fault address 0x00003116.

follow up. we did some more tests and it seems that the problem does not occur if we send a fax from outlook. the problem appears if we send a fax from the faxmaker client or printer.

Wow! I will try that...I was only sending from the Faxmaker 12 client...not Outlook!

Will give that a try!

Thanks! [Big Grin]

We have the same problem. Our setup:-

Split mode - FaxMaker 12 on Windows 2003 Server and Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2003 Server

If we send faxes using fax_number@faxmaker.com everything works fine. If we use the format [FAX:Fax_Number] then the inetinfo.exe process on the FaxMaker server crashes with the following information :-

Reporting queued error:

faulting application inetinfo.exe, version
6.0.3790.0, faulting module tnefunpack.dll, version 10004.1117.0.4, fault address 0x00003116.

I have opened a support case with GFI. I will let you know what they find.

Hi,

A quick workaround for this issue would be one of the following:

1. Uninstall the FAXmaker MAPI client, reboot the machine, and re-install it, selecting to make use of the Outlook message form. You will need to use Outlook to send faxes. The drawback of this is that the Contact information will not be retreived by Outlook when faxes are sent to contacts.

2. Uninstall the FAXmaker MAPI client, reboot the machine and isntall the FAXmaker SMTP client. Faxes will need to go directly to the FAXmaker machine, irrelevant if FAXmaker is installed on the same machine as Exchange. The drawback of this is that faxes will not be saved in the users' SENT items in Outlook.

In the meantime, we are still checking this issue.

FYI: We have the same issue, but on our systems it does not occur if the message body is left blank when sending through the FaxMaker Fax Message Form.

I saw that there is a new build of faxmaker server (it should be 20041216). Do You know if it solves this problem?

Thank You

Hi,

As an expaxerated person evaluating FaxMaker, I can confirm that :

Windows 2003 Server (+Last Patches)
Exchange 2003 Enterprise (+Last Patches)
FaxMaker 12 - Build 20041125
- Build 20041216

Clients - Build 20041210
- Build 20041101

DOES NOT fix this problem.
If sending Faxes from the FaxMaker MAPI client it either totally fails to 'appear' and sometimes even later send a failure report and/or if selecting a contact from your Outlook contacts, the final To:, the in "sent" messages folder has a 'weird' To:

Error on Exchange/FaxMaker Box :
-------------------------------------------------
Faulting application inetinfo.exe, version 6.0.3790.0, stamp 3e8000f7, faulting module tnefunpack.dll, version 10004.1117.0.4, stamp 419a2014, debug? 0, fault address 0x00003116.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

-------------------------------------------------

Converted upon sending fax address :

'FirstName@company@Surname@@+81 (3) 3201xxxx'

Hi,

This issue is still being investigated. For the time being you need to use one of the workarounds explained further up.

Only use SMTP clients. Do not use [FAX:###] from Outlook to sent a fax but use ###@faxmaker.com.

If you still have problems in IIS using SMTP, post to this thread with the details on how you have sent the fax.

I'd just like to point out that avoiding [FAX:XXXXX] format is not solution. It should be solved so also [FAX:XXXXX] format could be used
