Hi,

Can you pleate potin out what error is shown in the status monitor? Failed email notifications will log the smtp error.

If no info is shown about email notifications then probably there's something misconfigured.

Best regards,
Calin

I too have seen this issue. We have a check setup for memory usage. After restarting the service the memory went back down to a normal % used. I did not recieve an email notifying me of the recovery.

I too have experienced the same type of issue. My email alerts function correctly for 12-24 hours and then they stop working. I came to work yesterday to find one of my servers was down and the ping test was failing, but I didn't get an email (no, it wasn't the email server that was down ;>)

Same here, notifications work for 12-24 hours,
after that you need to restart services in order to
get them going. This will also happen when you change anything in configuration. This is serious bug, as it makes program useless. Hope that some future build can mend broken code. Only error that I have seen is that mailbox recepients cannot be found, but it is unlikely as they are working correctly for some time. Nothing is changed, but notifications just stops working.

OK this is error that I get: The exception I receive is as follows:
"The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code
was 0x800ccc14. The server response was not available."

If I want the exception to stop occurring (for a while), I just reboot the
machine that the app and SMTP Service is running on. Note that SMTP Service
start and stop does not help. Please note that I never know how long the app
will run until the error occurs sometimes 1 hour, sometimes 8 hours.

The transport error code was 0x800ccc14 is a winsock error,
"SOCKET_INIT_ERROR Unable to initialize Winsock".

Can somebody, please help with this?

Any word on when this may be fixed, NSM 6.0 will work correctly for 12-24 hours then stop sending emails. This is a huge problem.

I am in the same boat with my trial version of GFI Server Manager 6.0. Email notifications work OK during the test process, then I NEVER get notified after that despite having reviewed my own configuration over and over.. This is frustrating and I am VERY disapointed to have wasted so much time on an issue that should be addressed by GFI before release. Now if anyone needs to look at my log files, just tell me which ones and I will send.

Hi,

A new patch has been released with changes to the way that emails are being sent by Network Server Monitor. The patch can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.gfisoftware.com/temp/2005_05_31_01_NSMEngine6.zip

To apply the fix:
- Stop Network Server Monitor 6 engine service
- Backup NSMEngine6.exe contained in Network Server Monitor 6 directory
- Put file contained in zip file in NSM 6 directory
- Start NSM 6 engine service.

Thank you.

Hello Everyone.

I have tested the new build (posted above)and have experienced the exact same issue as before. After about 4-? hours email notification stops working.

I've been watching this pretty closely and have been doing some troubleshooting and have determined that at the point in time my email notifications begin to fail is the same point in time when my Redhat Linux (AS 2.1) SSH scripts (the default included with NSM) have encountered processing errors. I've been running the following Linux checks:
crond
atd
sendmail
diskspace
daemon
and a few specific to clustering

I disabled all of these checks on 6/24 and email notifications have been working uninterrupted since.

First of all, I'm not sure why my Linux checks ever received 'processing errors' that didn't clear as every time I checked manually everything was running fine. Second, I'm not sure why hung Linux checks would affect my Windows host monitoring (email) and am hoping someone has some insight here.

Hopefully this helps others that have been as frustrated as I have....
