Hi I need to document all the checks that this software does for our internal doc database. Is there any way I can view the config XML export in a readable format? I really dont want to write the whole config out by hand if I can just cut and paste from the 'GFI Network Server Monitor Configuration XML viewer'..... Cheers Methodology

Hi, All the configuration of Network Server Monitor can be done from the user interface of the product. You can check all the checks that can be performed by the product by using the new Monitoring Check wizard. This will list all the check types. Note that you can also have your own custom checks written in either VBScript or using SSH.

Nicks yes, I know that - that is not what im asking. I want a way to easily export the config IN A DOCUMENTABLE WAY ie something I can just copy and paste into my internal wiki so that people can easily see what is being monitored without having the necessary expertise to trawl through the app gui. seeing as the config can be exported to XML i am wondering if there is any way I can make this data more easily readable - I have used an XML file viewer but its still pretty tough to get any info out of it in the form that I need.

Hi, Unfortunatly, we do not provide any other tools to view the configuration. However, the web page provided by the web monitor may help, since this will list the rules that are configured in Network Server Monitor. But you would need to give a describtive name to the rules.

Methodology, This makes perfect sense, especially with Sarbanes Oxley here in the US. Our auditors want to know what is being monitored and I have to keep an excel spreadsheet up-to-date with all of our servers. Not bad for a few servers, but when you have a few hundred it sucks. Thank you for adding this as a feature request.
