ZX,
"I try to connect to a shared folder that's not password protected and nothing happens. Can someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong".
The same happens to me. Did you resolve it?. How did yo do it?.

The only thing I did was change my ISP to NetZero instead of AOL. Let me make it clear that the only reason I use AOL is because my dad works for Time Warner and I get it for free. It's definatly not worth 30$ a month in my oppinion. Make sure you have Client for Microsoft Networking installed in your network setting's also. I also added another TCP/IP dial up adapter other then the two AOL creates. Im not sure if that was necesary but I did it anyway.

Thank you ZX,
But my problem is that almost always i can open the shares but in certain computers (a few) nothing happens with the shares, i double click them and i keep waiting but there is no open window. Do you know what should i do?. Thank you in advance.

Havent had that problem. My only suggestion is try restarting LANguard and try opening it again. Maybe even restarting your computer. You'd be suprised at what restarting your computer can fix.
