Win2K SP4 problems with ME and MS - 9.Oct.2003 2:46:00 PM

I installed Win 2K SP4 on my Mail Essentials/Mail Security box and it hosed up passing messages. The only thing I can think of, is something changed on the SMTP when SP4 was installed. I have downgraded back to SP3, and upgraded to the newest versions of Mail Essentials and Mail Security, and would like to try and reinstall SP4 on this server, can I do this now without it hosing my box up again. I didnt know if this were a known bug or problem or if anyone else has run into this issue.

WHen I changed to SP4 I had to update my MES install. I suspect the same happened to you. There were some updates to IIS in the Service Pack that the older version of MES did not work with. I am not saying change to MES9 (though I would recommend that anyway). I just had to go to a newer build of MES8.

I was running the newest versions of both at the time....I guess I'll try it again someday soon...just dont want it to hose up again like it did last time.

Hi, I was interested in reading your posts above. I have a couple of questions, which I wondered if you could help me with. When did u do the sp4 and if it was last week (6oct) did u run the latest windowsupdate patches? If u did u might be interested in my post about the inetinfo.exe process.

This was about 1-2 months ago before the newest 6 patches were out. I will probably try and update it again next week when I get back into town.
