On the one hand, people say to create an XML
file. Another person asks if you can directly
modify the whitelist.mdb file (to which
the answer was "it is not suggested" - that
doesn't tell me if you can actually do it or not).
And yet another person posts an unsupported
binary for importing a CSV, and I'm not about
to install .net on my server, much less run
any unsupported code.

Would someone please give me the final lowdown
on the precise method for importing a list
email addresses to the whitelist. We have 400+ frequently used contacts in our exchange public folders. It is headache enough to export specific fields from a public folder, only to find that the exported format can't be imported.

And - if you run an import, does it overwrite your
current whitelist, or append?

Other than this - ME has been working quite well for us.

This is 'not suggested' as although MailEssentials uses an access database to store some parts of its configuration, direct modification to the database is unsupported by GFi.

That'd be me [Smile] The application I wrote has been used by many customers in the Asia Pacific region and does not need to be run on the server. I wrote the application as many customers found it difficult to import their contacts into the whitelist without creating their own methods of generating XML.

To find the XML format required, add some entries to the whitelist and do an export. From there you should be able to see the format required. I would be happy convert a CSV file for you but I would doubt you would want to send it to me, if you are worried about running the application.

Append.

Another solution of course is to use the autowhitelist. If you frequently email the contacts in your list it should not take long for the entries to be added automatically.
