On our server, we have the email address purchasing@domain.com.  This email address is not associated with an actual Exchange mailbox, but rather, the messages recieved are forwarded on to the members of the distribution list.  According to the ME logfile, an important email sent to purchasing@domain.com was detected as spam and moved to the Inbox\spam folder.  But the message is not in the mailboxes of the members of the distribution list.  I'm thinking it just was dropped because the purchasing address doesn't have an Exchange mailbox, but it seems like there would be a better way for ME to handle this.  Has anyone else had experience with this?

As the distribution list has no mailbox, ME can't move the mail to the SPAM folder.  The emails are processed under the Global Antispam action.  To see what your global action is, in GFI MailEssentials Configuration right click on Anti-Spam and choose properties.  Click the Global Actions Tab.  This will tell you where those emails are going.

I created an email enabled public folder and direct all emails processed under this global actoin there.  I review the public folder regularly, pass on any legitimate emails.  I also set an age limit of 30 days on it so I don't have remember to empty the public folder.

johnmorgan,

In this situation philharris is right and the message would have taken the action configured for your Global Actions.
