Webmonitor slow internet navigation Tuesday, January 10, 2017 11:10 AM (permalink)
Hi, i've installed GFI Webmonitor 10 updated at last relase with theese settings :

- Standalone Proxy Mode- Wpad on (i use internal Wpad server provided with GFI Webmonitor) with Ip publish in file pac (i use proxypac.pac provided with GFI)
- I've added an Host (A) in dns server : wpad --- (ip of NIC where Gfi is configured for traffic listening)
- For a test purpose i've disabled all policies and all antivirus engines of GFI (i need only to see traffic without block nothing)
- GFI must serve a network with 140-200 users
Server Machine (where GFI is installed)
- 8 GB Ram
- Intel Xeon 2,30 GHZ
- a lot of free space

If i browse http:\\wpad\wpad.dat from client machines i can see correctly the configuration of GFI. If i configure clients to detect automatically proxy settings they use correcly proxy server (lagato test +
My problem is that, internet perfomance of the network decrease drastically when GFI proxy is on. I've tried to do a speed test with service ON and speed decrease to 1-2 MB in download when usally we have 22-25 MB (we a 30 MB in our corporate)
For speed test i used Okla speedtest

In general, the WPAD settings should not slow down performance. It could be that a lot of clients are already using the proxy and potentially downloading updates (i.e. Windows updates, Adobe, etc.) creating a bottleneck. Make sure there is only a single client using WebMonitor as a proxy and try the following tests:
        1. Test the performance/bandwidth directly on the WebMonitor machine: Open a browser (directly on the WebMonitor server), setup the proxy manually (localhost and port 8080), and proceed with the tests (download, speedtest....)
        What is the result?

        2. Test the performance/bandwidth on a remote machine (client). Open a browser, setup the proxy manually (WebMonitor hostname and port 8080), and proceed with the tests (download, speedtest...)
        What is the result?

        3. Test the performance/bandwidth with WPAD enabled and compare wth the previous tests.
Are there any difference in performance/bandwidth?
While doing the tests, look at the WebMonitor Home Screen, what's the current latency and bandwidth?
