Hi All,

I've recently migrated a few VB Script checks from an older version of NSM to NSM 7.0.  However even though these checks work fine in 5.5 i'm getting the following error now in version 7.0:

Processing Error: Unable to access 'server'. Possible reasons: no WMI installed on the remote server, no rights to access remote WMI service, or remote server down

Does anyone know why this occurs?

Regards,

Kirk

From BOTH machines, open a command prompt and type:

wmic process list brief

Once done, does it prompt to install WMI on either machine? Do the checks work any differently now?

Hi Drew,

It prompted to installed WMI on both servers I tried it on however it doesn't really make sense as I ran the existing check on NSM 5.5 and worked sucessfully.  Only being totally different versions of NSM, the checks use the same VB script.

Did running these commands change anything in regards to GFI? Did you get a process list from both machines?

If you are running the checks on older PC's (Win 2000) make sure you have Windows Script Host 5.5 or higher installed.

Yes the process list ran but this command hasn't changed the failure outcome.

Try from the GFI server:

wmic /node:RemoteWorkstationName process list brief

This should pull the process list of the remote machine, also telling us if any user credentials issues exist.

Is the user you ran the WMIC command ALSO a Local Admin on the machine being scanned?
