What's new in GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. 5? - Critical events of IIS, ISA Server, Exchange Server and SQL Server are monitored ‘out of the box’.
- More security event processing rules have been added, including Windows 2003-specific security event rules.
- Windows 2003 compatibility: GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. can now also run on Windows 2003, as well as monitor Windows 2003 events.
- Support for notification via SMS or pager using the new Short Message Format notifications (requires an email-to-SMS gateway). You can send both normal email notifications, and short message format messages on the triggering of an event processing rule.
- Extended the event explanations: These are now more informative, explaining what an event means, why it happened and what must be done; more information about the event is available via a link to the GFI event database on the web.
- Any critical or high importance event can now be shown through the GFI LANguard S.E.L.M. intrusion/status monitor.
- You can configure event processing rules (formerly custom rules) to cover more restrictions on when a rule is triggered.
- Classification of events (critical/high/medium/low) are now applicable to ALL event logs (no longer only to the security event logs).
- Redesigned and simplified user interface: there are no longer two types of rules - general and custom; only the custom rules remain, and these are now called event processing rules.
- You can customize the email notifications.
- New types of information are provided in Event Viewer, such as which event processing rule caused the event to be classified under that category.
