Hello.

Im in the process of transitioning to Exchange 2007 from Exchange 2003.

I found this article on how to Move MailEssentials from 32-bit Windows (Current Exchange 2003 SP2 Machine) to 64-bit Windows (New Exchange 2007 SP1 machine).

I was wondering if there was a similar procedure for MailArchiver v5, or if i would just follow the documentation on how to move it from one server to another (even though they are different architectures).

Thanks for your time.

MuadDib,

Take a look at http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID003025 as it goes over this for you.  This should be pretty easy as GFI MailArchiver isn't tied to SMTP servers like GFI MailEssentials is.

John,

Thanks for your reply. That was actually the article i was referring to in my original post. I will follow it and hopefully have better success than i did with the similiar article on MailSecurity.

Thanks for your time.

MuadDib,

I did read your other post and I do not anticipate you having problems like you did with GFI MailSecurity.  If anything does come up please let me know.

John,

Thanks for confirming those were the steps i needed to take.

The installation went smoothly, and everything is working great.

If anyone comes across this thread i will advise that since your now on a 64-bit OS, MailArchiver will by default want to install to the "Program Files (x86)\GFI\MailArchiver" directory. You must change this to "Program Files\GFI\MailArchiver" and make sure you also have copied the old MailArchiver directory from the old server into this same location.
The instructions from the link above also state to be "exact" with the directory's, but i want to make sure i also touch on it as i was confused a bit at first.

One quick question...

How would i go about changing the databases to SQL Server instead of the native firebird databases? Is that something that is recommended? I am just assuming that SQL server would be faster than the firebird ones. I am not currently having any "real" issues with database speed, but i wanted to be as informed as possible.
If i did decide to stick with the firebird databases, how would i go about moving them to another drive so that they are no longer on C:?

Thanks again for your time.
