We recently upgraded GFI MailEssentials with the newest build (after not updating for a year-- good lord!) and were somewhat unprepared when the installer asked us to reboot the server at the finish.  We'd expected it would restart services and be on its merry way.

Our upgrade for MailSecurity is next.  We're currently running version 20060721.  Do you guys know if we'll be prompted to restart the server after installing the newest build?

Bard09,

Typically the upgrades do not require reboots but this is really an environmental issue more so that our software needing it.  I would guess no but it is always possible that the system may require it.

Restarting certainly will not hurt anything but in most situations it is not required.  If the software installation prompts you to reboot, please reboot.  If it does not prompt you to do so you are OK with not doing it.
