OK, I have updated events manager and now I am unable to collect W3C Events.

I get the following errors on all the IIS servers.

Error accessing file \\Server name\C$\Windows\System32\Logfiles\(W3SVC Folder)\(File name).log W3C File on Machine (IP ADDY): The System cannot open the file.

Before the update I had issues with EventsManager randomly not collecting the logs.

I have tried to delete the computer and re add it with no success!

I also have checked all usernames and passwords.

Any help would be great.

From the GFI EventsManager server can you click Start -> Run and type:
\\Server name\C$\Windows\System32\Logfiles\(W3SVC Folder)\(File name).log ?

Can you open this file in Notepad?

This will likely be the same trouble we are seeing in our software.

Does \\Servername\C$ work?
What about \\ServerName\C$\Windows?
How far down the path can you go before you get the error?

Drew,

I can get all the way to the log file itself. Just wont open it. If I go to that server it opens just fine.

Do you have the necessary NTFS and Share Permissions available? Is there any Anti-Virus or Real-time backup software scanning the logs?

Yes I have the permissions. I just don't understand how it works one minute then quits the next. It was running before the update. I even went as far as to try and set all the EventsMan back to default setting to start from scratch. No luck.

Can you copy the file, then open it? Perhaps something has the file locked.

Well,

I just tried it and it said:

To many files are currently in use. Quit one or more programs, and then try again.

So I guess this is a server 2k3 error.
