I am attemping to scan a windows 2003 server, I have created a temp account and added to the admin group, I have confirm that I can log into the server using the username and password, however every time I scan the server I get the red box like it cannot authenicate, I have done the same scan to other servers without an issue. what can I check to find out why it is failing.

Thanks in advance,
Bob Smith

Bob,

Is this server a member of the same domain as all of your other servers, or could it be part of your DMZ?  Typically, this is a credentials issue, and that the account the scan is using does not have administrative access to the server.

If the account does all the necessary credentials, we'll likely need to look into the issue more closely.  We would need you to open a support case online at http://support.gfi.com/supportrequestform.asp so we can gather the log files from your server.

Hi Drew,

It is a DMZ server and not in a domain, although my laptop I use to scan systems with is a stand alone system, the account is an admin and in the admin group, when scanning I use alternative creds., this is strange, I have done similiar servers and have not seen this before.

Thanks,
Bob

Since this machine is not a member of the domain, did you enter the credentials as .\username or some other method that denotes a local user account?

Terry,

Thank for the reply, I normally just place the username without the .\ however I will give that a try, I did try server\username and that did not work as well. Very stange, I never had a problem scanning a server I had access too.

Thanks,
Bob Smith
