First install of GFI Mail Archiver 5.0, Build 20080430, I get to the point of creating a new Archive Database and place for the binary files; insert a UNC path such as \\servername\mailarchiver\data\dbname.fdb that goes through ok, but when I type in the path to the binary file store and click next to authenticate, nothing I input will authenticate to the path. I've ensured several users have both local and share access. If I open the path from the install server, I have full access to do anything folder or file wise.

Any suggestion appreciated.

Hi Tom,

GFI MailArchiver embedded Archive Stores are split into two parts; a Firebird database to hold meta data and a UNC path to hold encoded compressed email sources.  The Firebird database should be local (limitation by embedded Firebird engine) and the UNC path can be any NTFS path on your network.  The UNC path should be in the format \\server\volume\directory.

Thanks for using GFI products.

Kind regards,

How much disk space should I allot for the firebird database?
Where should it reside?

Thanks!
