Hi support. My name is Michael. I'm a system administrator. Our company is just begin testing your product GFI MailArchiver 6.1 Build 20090526.
I have troubles with that product. I can't make Mail Archiver to synhronize user folders in there mailboxes.
Information about servers: GFI is installed in separeted File server with Windows 2008 Standart Edition with 8Gb of memory. SQL Server 2008 is used as database(SQL is installed also on File server).
Mail server is Exchange 2007 SP1 with rollup update 9.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server Enterprise Edition is installed on File server.
I exclude all GFI folders from scanning and exclude 6 services that are running from scaning too.
When i just install MailArchiver server indicates about 2 GB of memory is used.
But when i turn Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Folder Retrieval function on, memory begin to grow from 2 Gb to 8 GB for 2 minutes !!!
Then i get such errors on my mail:
--GFI MailArchiver failed to transfer the archived emails into the backend database.
--The following error message was reported:
--ERROR.DAL.UploadFailed. Additional info: Истекло время ожидания. Время ожидания истекло до завершения операции или сервер не отвечает.

I have only add about 43 mailboxes.
Now i turn this function of memory usage fall down, but i still have w3wp.exe process about 556 252 KB
Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP ! ! !

Can you please check via the task manager which process is allocating that much memory?
Are you using MAPI or EWS for the mailbox folder synchronization?
Is the mailbox folder synchronization working? Do you see your custom folders that you created in your Outlook within MailArchiver?

Can you please check via the task manager which process is allocating that much memory?
Those 3 services:
w3wp.exe process (created when i start MailArchiver services)
MArc.Core.exe
MArc.Core2.exe
Are you using MAPI or EWS for the mailbox folder synchronization? I install office 2007 on the server,
I'm using EWS as recommended option for Exchange 2007 SP1.
MAPI with the same login and password as EWS get error - Failed to Connect to Microsoft Exchange Server.
I use same login and password !!!
Why i get this error??? Can anybody explain it to me????
Is the mailbox folder synchronization working? - Yes it's working but when the memory is out sometimes i get message on my mail - --GFI MailArchiver failed to transfer the archived emails into the backend database.
And sometimes i don't have them. Very strange behaviour.
Do you see your custom folders that you created in your Outlook within MailArchiver? - Yes i see them.

the mem hogs for me are the same as shaddow.
I am using EWS as i have exchange 2007 sp1.
i can also use MAPI which makes no difference on memory usage.
Folder sync is working fine. just very high memory usage.
memory usually hits 100% for a while then briefly drops to 50% then jumps back to 100%
doesnt matter how much mem i throw at it. i have tried 4gb and 12gb ram servers and the services just use the whole lot.
i also notice that hdd read writes are very high as well.
I only have mailarchive running on this server (windows 2008)

Sorry for the delay, i was away on vacation.
As for your question:
1. --Can you please enable debug logging and check the file <c:\program files\gfi\mailarchiver\core\debuglogs\umpoll.ewspoll.log>. This is the main log file for the EWS module. Do ---you see errors?
How can i enable debug logging ?????
2. --In regard of using MAPI for the mailbox structure retrieval, do you have CDO installed on the -------------MailArchiver server? If not please do so and check if you can use it afterwards.
Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 was installed before installing GFI.
3. --Please also check if these folders contain many files:
c:\program files\gfi\mailarchiver\core\pickup - 0 files
c:\program files\gfi\mailarchiver\core\queue - 0 files
c:\program files\gfi\mailarchiver\mais\queue - 0 files
c:\program files\gfi\mailarchiver\mais\pickup - 1 file with strange text inside.
File named STOP.TXT with such text inside: No back end stores defined.
Export processes paused since no databases are configured for the GFI MailArchiver Import Service.
What does it mean ????

That's is because you have not configured the MailArchiver Import Service.
You need to configure this if you will be importing emails from the PST-Exchange Email Export Wizard
