Can someone please explain to me in a little more detail how exactly the transparent proxy setting works? If there is no client configuration, how is GFI intercepting traffic that isnt being directed to it? How does it intercept traffic in general? Does it just listen for web broadcasts? Im a bit confused here.

Default Gateways must still be set on all machines for the Proxy server. Configuration is still required, although not as much.

So I would need to change my DHCP server to set the GFI WebMonitor server as the default gateway on all endpoints? I specifically asked the sales engineer that question and he said "No".

I apologize for the confusion, I spoke with the sales engineer and the question was misunderstood.

So what configuration is required for the transparent proxy? How does it intercept web traffic?

On the client side, the default gateway must be set to the IP of the internal network card on the WebMonitor server.
You also need to make sure the firewalls on both client and server allow traffic on port 8082 by default, although this can be changed in the WebMonitor configuration.
That should be everything you need to do on the client.

Thank you Allen, that's what I thought.. The SE I was speaking with told me this was not the case which sounded really weird to me.
