I think it may be useful to be able to define time bands.

For example...

09:00 - 17:30 xxMTWTF Normal Working Hours

07:00 - 09:00 xxMTWTF Morning and Evening
17:30 - 22:00 xxMTWTF

22:00 - 07:00 xxMTWTF Late night

00:00 - 23:59 SSxxxxx Weekend

Obviously this would be easier with ui similar to the Logon Hours in windows user account properties.

Once these were defined, they should be able ot used for reporting.

The reason I suggest this is, last month I had a server down for 42 hrs over the weekend for a rebuild, the report says somelike 93% uptime.

What I would like to show is that there was infact 100% uptime for Normal Working Hours, and to clearly show the downtime was during least critical time bands.

I know Maintenance Time similar, but it really is not flexible or expandable enough.

For instance, I could define a band as such..

21:00 - 00:00 xxMTWTF Backup Period

and then run a report showing uptime for those backup exec services, this way I could shutdown services or reboot out-of-band and be able to show that services were 100% up when they were needed.

I hope I have explained myself clearly, sorry if I haven't.

Comments please ?

Matt

The maintenance time in GFI Network Server Monitor will indicate that at that time, the monitored service is expected to be down. So if it is not found running, GFI Network Server Monitor will not send any notifications.

If however, you do not keep a fixed time for performing maintenance on the servers, I would not recommend that you configure maintenance time. In this case, you will avoid having failures in the server without being notified.

I will request the feature that you have mentioned.

Thank you.

Hello,
1. I love this tool
2. Like anything else, it can be improved

I see the biggest things being, a copy feature to copy simlar jobs to seperate servers. Also, notification depending on time. Basically, not everyone wants to be paged all the time, some would like to be paged in work hours, emailed not in work hours....Overall this is a great bang for the buck. I hope someone actually, reads this comment before the next release.
