NSM6 (Build 20050224) on Windows Server 2003. A few SNMP queries for some devices don't work while they work for other devices. IP addresses and OID are correct. "Monitor now" results in "Failed to open SNMP session". NSM6's SNMP-Walk doesn't work either on these devices (even not with OID "System.sysName"). Another tool installed on the same computer (iReasoning MIB Browser) works fine at the same time with the devices in question and even NSM5.5 works... I cannot use NSM6 until this issue is fixed... Hi Wolfy,
You gave information on other post about the device types. Can you please state the exact manufacturer and item names so we can tests with the exact same items in the test labs?
Thank you, Calin

See here: http://www.wut.de/e-wwwww-00-smus-000.php . One of the problematic devices are the "Web-Graph 1x Thermometer" . In this case it is used for controlling the server room temperature but we have the same problem with the "Web-Graph Thermo-Hygrometer" used for an other application... These devices are made by a german company, but I doubt this problem is related to german characters, as i cannot see any if I "SNMP walk" through it with an other SNMP tool... And, to remember, NSM 5.5 doesn't have any problems with it...

Hi all,
Thank you for the information provided. We will test the product against the devices you have and fix the issues. We have found an issue with the snmp check which might be related.
Thank you for all, Calin

Hi wstahn ,
Can you please check out if you are using community string with german characters for snmp walk?
We have found two issues in NSM 6 with SNMP which we are currently fixing:
1. german characters in values returned cause snmp not to work proplery 2. german characters in community string cause snmp not to work 3. SNMP timeout (device stopped) cause the snmp check to fail and not work even if device is started. (This is already fixed)
Do you think the above issues can be the cause for the problems you are experiencing?
Thanks and regards, [ March 15, 2005, 09:57 AM: Message edited by: Calin Ghibu ]

No, we use the default community string "public" on all devices and the return values also don't include German chars... [ March 15, 2005, 10:03 AM: Message edited by: wstahn ]

ok, can you please send us some debug information?
Please enable debug from the registry:
- HKLM\Software\GFI\NSM6\Config change values Debug and DebugLevel to 1. - restart nsm engine service. - do a monitor now on the snmp check which is failing (for the device) - send me via e-mail the file LogNSMEngine6.csv
Thank you , Calin

My request don't work with the new version too. In version 5.5 work perfectly but in 6.0.... , there aren't any explanation in the error.
