Hi, Have had a problem for well over a week now where the search function of our archiver is not working, just says 'no results' when perform search. Browsing still has full functionality. The original response I got back from the support team is as follows; -download mailarchiver5.exe from ftp.gfisoftware.com -run installer. this will uninstall the old build, and install the new build over the top. all existing settings will be imported. -mailarchiver configuration --> archive stores --> delete each problem database from configuration note: make a note of the location of the search index for each database note: this will not delete physical data, only the connection -stop the mailarchiver services -delete the search index for each removed database (default is .\mailarchiver\indexes\<databasename>) -start the mailarchiver services -mailarchiver configuration --> archive stores --> add each problem database back into the configuration This will recreate the search indexes from scratch, and should resolve your issues. Depending on the size of the databases involved, it will likely take a day or so for the indexes to rebuild. View the database statistics to see the indexing progress I performed these steps but the same problem happens, stats say 0 emails are indexed after waiting over an hour. When manually rebuild an index it goes to pending then back to online in a matter of seconds (is indexing 40gig/90000emails should take hours) clearly it is not working. Support then asked for a sample XML file and have not heard back since. Sample XML; <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <root xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <index dbid="8b509d63-0629-490e-af0a-14aa0d1c5b2c" timestamp="0" localtimestamp="-9223372036854775808" currentstate="Normal" mergestate="None" hold="false" autostoplimit="0" maxfiles="0" /> </root> http://forums.gfi.com/Rebuilding_Index_not_doing_anything_(5%250_20071109)/m_900760198/tm.htm After reading the above thread I thought the problem may be the updatescache.fdb, but following user:ServiceIns steps in post #6 did not assist either. Hoping someone can assist through this forum as the local support in my country is average to say the least, and users are becomming impatient. Many thanks

Hi Neuro, Can you please enable debug logging and re-generate the problem? You can follow the procedure at http://forums.gfi.com/General_Information/m_900727063/tm.htm to do this. Once done and you have uploaded the debug logs as described in the link provided, please email me at roderick(at)gfi.com.

Hello This problem has been resolved with the help of Kris Hansen and Daniel Schell. Kris' remote support was excellent. Feel free to close or delete this thread.

I seem to have the same problem that the Neuro had Do you know what the problem / solution was as I need to get the system back up & running again. The browse is working, but the search shows no results. When I try to rebuild the index the rebuild fails.

I have a client who has the exact same problem. Every index appears to rebuild fine, but when I go to the stats it shows 0 for indexed emails. Even if I try to rebuild one that currently has an index or completely remove a database and then re add it. I have a feeling it has something to do with the timestamp becasue in one of the debug logs it seems to imply the the index has a newer timestamp, but just like the previous post it says that the timestamp="0". I beleive they are running V5 20080430 which was an upgrade from V4. Can you please post what was done to correct this? Thanks!
