Why can't we scan .0 and .255 addresses? We have a /16 network and those addresses can be legal. Our DHCP server issues them but we can't scan them now, although I seem to remember a time when we could. We're at LNSS 8, Build 20080326. Can this be a new feature request?

For reference, could you please post the subnet mask you use on the workstations that need to be scanned? In most circumstances scanning workstations with .0 or .255 addresses correspond to reserved IPs for either broadcast or subnet identification.

Hello hskelton,
By default GFI LANguard N.S.S does not scan IP addresses ending in 0 or 255. However, this default setting can be changed as follows:
1 - Stop the GFI LANguard N.S.S Attendant Service and close out of the GFI LANguard N.S.S configuration.
2 - Open windows explorer and browse to ...\GFI\LANguard Network Security Scanner 8.0\Data folder.
3 - Make a backup copy of the operationsprofile.mdb
4 - Open the original file in MS Access and open the 'Configuration' table.
5 - Find the column 'Scan0and255'. Change all of the rows in this column to a 1.
6 - Close your operationsprofile.mdb file and save any changes that you have made.
7 - Restart the service stopped in (1) and launch the GFI LANguard N.S.S configuration and attempt to scan a server with an IP ending in 0 or 255.
