What build number do you have? How many computers have you scanned? This problem may happen when a large scan is performed but in the last build, 20040615, was added a fix for it.

Build number is 20040615.
The error message appears by scanning only 1 machine.
This message appears at the end of the scan.

The problem is reproductible? What operating system do you have on that computer?

Yes the problem occurs every time and for any machines (NT server and W2K server).

I mean, what OS has the computer where LNSS is installed? Do you have installed LNSS before on those W2k machines? Please send us the debug logs or post on forum the portion with the error from Log.csv (located in DebugLogs folder)

LNSS OS is W2K server.
The error record is :
2004-07-01,17:32:32,750,1,"#000009f4","#00000a9c","error ","GatherInfo","TGatherInfoPlugin.AddRegistryInfo An exception occurred (Invalid data type for 'AuFlag')"

The log error seems to not be relevant to determine the cause for access violation on 'RICHED20.DLL'. Other questions: - what SP has installed that computer? - what version has RICHED20.DLL file (it is located in %windir%|system32)
The file may be corrupted or missing. Similar problems were noticed on Office.
Have you tried installation on another computer?

- OS SP is SP4.
- Version of riched20.DLL is 5.30.23.1215.
- I installed it on my PC 5W2K professional and it works without issue.

another thing to check is to do a full search of your system and see if more than one copy of that file exists.
I haven't seen it with LNSS, but I've seen where other dll's have been in multiple places in the search path, with multiple versions of that file. So when it makes the call to the .dll, you don't always know what version it is calling.
Also, I know there were some glitches at the university I worked at with this dll and some vb programs one of our chemistry people had written. granted this was a NT4 switch to 2000/xp, but same idea. We found that the dll was out of date and or multiple different versions of it were in the path.

I have had the same problem at the end of my scans, but it doesn't happen every time. I have WinXP Pro SP1 with a HyperThreading processor running LNSS 5 Build: 20040615.

Hi,
i have the same problem. It happens not too often on the w2k3 server (Xeon multiproc, hyperthreading, riched20.dll version 5.31.23.128) but very often with large scans on a w2kserver (single proc, no hyperthreading and version 5.30.23.1215). There are no other versions of riched20.dll on the machine and it's the last build of LNSS.

There are 2 PIII XEON processors, hyperthreading and only 1 riched20.dll.
Curiously, now I am not able to reproduce the problem whereas it occurred all the time before. The only thing I did is to install ... the latest Microsoft security patches !
