Hi,

Is there a way the software can monitor remote sites that are behind a firewall? Another word, is this pull technology that require direct connection to the monitored devices or is this push technology that agent on the monitored devices can send out the data? Thanks!

Hi Benson,

NSM uses a 'pull' technology. It will connect to the remote site and request the information from the remote site.

However no agent software is required. All the checks are done via the OS, or software that is already installed on the machine (e.g. Exchange or SQL checks)

However the firewall will need to be configured so that the connection is allowed. The firewall configuration will depend on the type of Monitoring Rule that you are creating.

Any plan to have "push" technology from the monitored nodes also?

The push technology will require the admin to install agent software on the monitored machines. This may be undesirable especially in large installations.

Currently there are no plans to have a push techonology.
