I've been running MARC for at least 2 years now.  My original settings from the beginning were SQL only...not the SQL plus file system.  I am beginning to question this choice because the databases are always so big, even when splitting up the year into quarters.

Can someone offer up a definitive explanation for me as well as any future installers that will help make this decision easier?

Also, once you have started down this path, I know you can switch on a go-forward basis with new databases/indexes, but can you go back and *convert* a SQL only to a SQL+file system type.  In otherwords, as is so common with GFI documentation, you have a decision point that seems rather important and we do not have the information at hand to answer these configuration questions in a knowledgeable manner.
