Hi,

I arrived this morning to find my Exchange Server with 0kb free on the C: drive.  Fun.  I find that there are 4 quarmdat.mdb files, with extensions .mdb, .bak, .dst, .new, and .src, in the \GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\QuarStore\MetaData\ directory.  Four of these files are over 250MB each, and have swallowed up every last kilobyte on the Exchange system drive.

I have had to do a lot of wrangling this morning just to get the server back up again.  Am still only barely operating - floating ~200MB free.  Awaiting an email response from CSR...

How can I safely delete these files, or contents therein, and prevent this from happening again?  I'd ideally like to move this location to another drive on the server.  Running MS10 & ME12 on Win 2003 Server.

Thanks.

Hello rhyno,

The quarmdat.mdb is your active MailSecurity quarantine database.
This database will per default be compacted and repaired every 6 hours and when this is done it will store a backup of the compacted and repaired database. This backup is stored as quarmdat.mdb.bak.

The quarmdat.mdb.new is an empty quarantine database that can be copied and renamed to quarmdat.mdb in case the active database gets corrupted.

The extensions .dst and .src are not used by MailSecurity 10 as far as I'm aware.
My guess is that you can safely remove these two files.

There is no other way than moving your entire MailSecurity installation to another location when you want to move the quarantine store.
Please bear in mind that you will have to remove MailSecurity completely before installing it again in another location and thus all your settings will be lost.

If you want to reduce the size of the quarmdat.mdb and the quarmdat.mdb.bak you can visit the Quarantine section of MailSecurity and either delete quarantined items or approve them (when appropriate).
After the database has been compacted and repaired you will notice that the size has been reduced.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
