While viewing the GFI Security Monitor, I noticed that is processes the same item 4 or 5 times in a row. Is this normal.
At this moment, I have the Mail Security and Essentials services stopped because it uses 100% of our CPU. We have the most current build for both products.

MailSecurity processes items rather the whole mails. Therefore if a single mail contains multiple parts (Example attachments, plain text, html text, etc) the different parts processed will all show in the monitor.
Which process is using 100% CPU usage?
Do you have any anti-virus or back-up software installed on the MailSecurity machine?

The 2 processes are inetinfo.exe and msecatt.exe. I've narrowed it down to the GFI Mail Essentials Attendant and the POP2 exchange. When the Mail Attendant is turned off in services, the CPU usage goes back to normal.
We have NAV corporate edition, but it is not scanning any GFI files/folders.

Does the CPU usage go up suddenly while MailEssentials is enabled, or does CPU usage increase slowly until it gets to 100%?
Does processing of mails still take place while CPU usage is high?
Can you please specify the exact builds you are using?

Further to my last post, is 'Automatically learn from Outbound e-mails' enabled in the MailEssentials configuratin -> Anti-SPAM -> Bayesian Analysis -> General tab?
How large is the Bayesian databse (weights.bsp file) in the MailEssentials\Data directory?

Mail Essentials Version 9.0 Build 20040102 Mail Security Version 8.0 Build 20031205
Automatically learn from outbound emails is checked yes.
weight.bsp file is 31,832,860 bytes in size
When I turn on Mail Essentials initially it will run fine, then jump up to 100% very quickly and stay there for maybe a minute or two, then drop. It might be fine for 30 minutes or so, then jump to 100% and stay long enough that I have to stop the services to get back to normal.

Hi,
Does disabling the option to 'Automatically learn from outbound emails' help?

I will try that and monitor it to see if it helps.
Thanks!
