Port commands

 Hello,
I have a question about ports.
when I do a scan it show me that there are open ports on a computer. when I double click on the port it open a hyper terminal connection to that port. I do not now any commands for these ports. the only one I know is ftp. does anyone know where I can find commands for other ports like 80,139,23 ect.. any of the well know ports would be helpfull.
