Hi
I had a similar problem. You will probably find you have the incorrect client - should be ffnc11.exe (I had ffnc.exe) - and the driver that faxes by reading the fax number from any document is not supported under Windows98.
Cheers

1. FAXmaker for Networks/SMTP is not supported if you have Exchange server installed on the machine. You should use, FAXmaker for Exchange in that case.

2. Please let us know if you have solved the problem by installing the latest ffnc11.exe client.

Thanks.

Hi I have the same problems with FFNc11 on W2KP and WXP.

I have the FFN installed on the WXP and the client FFNc11 on the same machine and another WXP. This is a workgroup environment. Not Domain/AD.

When I select Printer "FAXmaker" from the MS Word, the FAX Form will not shown at all, as if nothing was happening at all.

However, the net2printfax is working fine all along!

I just do not know how do explain to the user why the FAX form will not appear if FAXmaker Printer were to be selected.

Please advise.

Hi all,

I've solved all my problems.

Win98:
Reinstall with ffnc.exe.I suppose ffnc.exe file is actually meant for Client For FaxMaker Network/SMTP 8, which does not include SMS feature.
W2K:
I happened to discover that the problem can be overcome if a file named "fmstart.exe" under GFI client folder is started. After knowing that, i manually insert a string in the registry to run that file. From then, the problem did not re-occur.

Hi Vincent,

What do you mean by insertng a string into the registry? Mind to share it?

Just wonder why don't you just amend the "Fax Manager" shorcut link instead?

Thanks. [Razz]

Hi All,
Vincent is right, Make sure that in the registry hklm/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run
there is a registry entry to start the fmstart.exe process with Windows.

Also check this http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID001293
