Hello,
We're running Mail Essentials v12 build 20080623 in SMTP mode in front of Exchange 2003.
I installed this build of ME last week (was running a previous build of v12) and ever since then the Phishing updates have failed. When the autoupdate fails I get an email with:
"There was a failure when checking for Anti-Phishing updates."
If I try a manual update it actually starts downloading the updates but then eventually hangs and the following message appears: "an unknown error occurred whilst attempting to download updates". The manual update gets to different byte counts each time so it's not even as if it's hanging right in the same place.
My licensing is valid and I'm not over on users or anything. The bayesian updates seem to work just fine. I've reinstalled the build, rebooted, stopped/started the ME services, etc. but not has seemed to help so far.
Any ideas?

Have you ever moved this installation from one server to another or from one partition to another?

Hi John,
Nope, ME has been on the same machine and partition for several years now. I just installed the latest build for v12 and ever since then the phishing updates just havent worked.

Robin,
I'd recommend creating a case for this issue at http://support.gfi.com/supportrequestform.asp as we will need to gather logs to see what is happening on this installation.

I think it's ok now. It looks as if we were having a hardware problem with the switch the GFI server was connected to.
