After i download mail using POP2Exchange, the P2E Logging indicates the message was put in Pickup directory.
Where's the Pickup directory was being stored and what are the purpose for downloading the email using POP2Exchange? Thank!!

The pickup folder is Exchange's pickup. For example, for Exchange 2003, this is usually c:\program files\exchsrvr\mailroot\vsi 1\pickup

You would use POP2Exchange if you have an external POP3 server you collect email from instead of having an SMTP feed to your server.

Thank for the explaination. But my server do not install the exchange.
I found the pickup folder in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Pickup, and the folder is empty.

That is correct. As soon as the message is processed by the SMTP service, it is deleted.

What probably happened to that email is that it was moved from the pickup fodler to the queue folder as the email was not adressed to the SMTP domain.

For example: the email was adressed to someone@somewhere.net, but the SMTP on that machine is for example SVR01.someotherdomain.local. This means that the SMTP would have to route it out. However, if the SMTP on that machine can not determine the route, or it was denied by the next hop along that route, the email would have expired in the queue-folder. This usually happens after 2 dyas, which is the default setting in IIS 6.0.
