Not work exec bat , exe, vbs, ect

Hello everyone

I've got a problem when I try to run a bat or exec from Network Monitor. I am doing a check snmp which work fine but, when this monitor fails network monitor dosen't take any action. I want to exec a remote shutdown with the next parameters path\shutdown.exe /s /m \\servername - t 400 "message" and it's not working.

Both services of NM 7 are running with administrative domain provileges but any happens.

Anyone can help me??

I read the article but I follow having the same trouble. There isn't appears any task in task manager such as notepad. Task manager dosen't display nothing.

Both network monitor services are being executed by administrative privileges. I think that in NM6.xx was working fine it.
I would like to execute a remote shutdown in several  windows server when the SAI is on Battery

Can you tell me anything to try?

Hi! Patrizia thank again to answer.

NM6 is not executing any scripts. It's only check a SNMP string and returns a value, that's working fine.  When the SNMP query is under value I have established that NM6 should execute a remote shutdown.exe in several servers to protect them, until the SAI (SNMP query) return to normal status.

I did several test such as execute notepad but I can't see any notepad task in windows taskmanager. I tried also to execute a bat and neither happened anything.

Any idea?

I checked the images. It seems that you are placing the parameters in the executable filename field. The parameters need to be placed in the Parameters field.

Check also the Network Server Monitor Status Monitor. This may provide you with more information on the problem Network Server Monitor is encountering when it tries to execute the file.

To make your testing simple, you can try to configure a rule which is simple to fail (e.g. ping rule).You can test using such a rule - rather then waiting for your check to fail.

Yes, I know, I placed the parameter in the executable filename field. Also I have placed the parameters in the parameters field. I think I have tried lots of possibilities and the results are the same.

Futhermore, I tried such as simple ping rule, and I saw in status monitor when the rule fails. All seem work fine until the rule has to execute the shutdown or whatever else, such as notepad, then nothing happens. I didn't see any task in taskmanager.

Status: offline 		Do you get any errors in the status monitor about why Network Server Monitor is not executing the command that you specify?

Should the problem persists, I would recommend that you send us your troubleshooting files to forums@gfi.com.

i've got the same problem with the version 7.0 Build 20070803. I want to execute the fellowing Action:

File to execute:
C:\Programme\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Parameters to pass to the file:
http://localhost/smsalert/servercheck.asp?Date=%DATE%&Time=%TIME%&Service=%CHECK_NAME%&Check_Result=%CHECK_RESULT%

GFI opens the iexplorer.exe but the browser still not open the url. I've tested many reasons but i think NSM did not put the Parameters to the .exe.

Status: offline 		Okay, now i've tested with a .vbs Script. I got the same Problem. Here my settings:

File to execute:
C:\myscript.vbs

Parameters to pass to the file:
1 2 3 4


The Script should not receive any Parameters. I think this is a softwarebug.

Status: offline 		Now, i've still found the Problem.
When i use Date or Time, the Script faild (URL not allowed). And when i use a HTTP/HTTPS Check with %Check_Target% NSM can't run the Parameters, because HTTP / HTTPS Check have no Check_Target. So i have change to the fellow settings, for all MonitorChecks:
 
File to execute:
C:\Programme\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Parameters to pass to the file:
http://localhost/smsalert/servercheck.asp?Service=%CHECK_NAME%&Check_Result=%CHECK_RESULT%

Now, it works smoothly.
