Hi

How do I use the LanGuard to scan for the Nod32 antivirus version

Please guide us how can we put this registry in the Languard for scanning.

Below are some of the information on Nod32.  Thanks

v2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\Nod\CurrentVersion\Info

v3
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Eset\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Info

v4
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Info

NOD32 v2.7
dir "\\%1\c$\program files\eset\nod32krn.exe" /b /s

NOD32 v3.0/4.0
dir "\\%1\c$\progra~1\Eset\Eset NOD32 Antivirus\egui.exe" /b /s

GFI cannot currently support creating the necessary files for each AntiVirus client that exists, however we have provided a very detailed file that guides you through the process of adding Nod32 (or any other AntiVirus software) into GFI Languard's checks.

You can find the file at "Program Files\GFI\Languard 9.0\Data\Security_Updates.xml"

Typically, the XML file works as follows:

  1. GFI Languard locates the registry key that indicates the folder path where Nod32 is installed
  2. GFI Languard identifies the date modified of a specific file or folder (The Virus Definition Update file)
  3. GFI Languard downloads a file from the software vendor's website and looks at its date modified.
  4. GFI Languard lastly compares the date modified on these two files to see if the local virus definitions are "up-to-date"
You typically will need the following information on hand to properly edit this file:

  1. The registry key that indicates the file path Nod32 is installed in
  2. The file name where the local anti-virus definitions are saved
  3. A URL to the latest virus definition files on the Nod32 server

Thanks Drew,

Do you have any idea when NOD32 will be put into LanGuard's Virus Definition scan list?

Would be on the road map this year 2009?

It would be good to know.

Thanks

I am not aware of any current plans to include this within GFI Languard at this time.

Hi Drew,

I am not very confident with doing it and changing the "Program Files\GFI\Languard 9.0\Data\Security_Updates.xml"

Hoever, I got this from Nod32.

File installation path
V3 & V4
HKLM\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Info\InstallDir

V2
HKLM\SOFTWARE\ESET\Nod\CurrentVersion\Info\InstallDir

Local Database store
V3 & V4
em000_32.dat
em001_32.dat
em002_32.dat (main)
em003_32.dat
em004_32.dat
em005_32.dat
em006_32.dat
em009_32.dat
em013_32.dat

change _32 to _64 for 64bit OS

V2
nod32.000 (main)
nod32.002
nod32.003
nod32.004
nod32.005
nod32.006
nod32.007

URL on local NOD32 server
Mirror folder is published on IIS on each ERAS

For definition check with ESET international server
http://www.eset.eu/support/update-xy1

RSS: http://www.eset.eu/buxus/export_rss.php?page_id=3353&days=100&lng=en

Can you advise me or show me how it is done.

a million thanks in advance

Every AntiVirus application is different, even between various versions. It would not be possible for me to create the XML file for you without a lot more information. There is an example of how this file is created if you open the security_updates.xml file in notepad.

Thanks Drew.  It is not as simple as it seems to be.  I hope once it appears in the feature request feedback, this Nod 32 will appear in LanGuard NSS soon.
