We have a recent issue whereas users are not receiving fax confirmations. This is being reported by multiple users. It appears to have started on one particular day for no apparent reason. Is there a service that may have stalled that could be causing this problem or other known reason? Thanks.

The plot thickens on this issue. We have individuals that previously could send faxes through Outlook by sending to fax@ourdomain.com Then in the Subject Field would put 1+faxnumber surrounded by brackets [::1234567890] and it would go through. Now for some reason when they put a 1+ the number it will not send. However if they take the 1 out from in front of the contact number, it seems to work fine. I am not sure what to make of this as we have had the server set for a long time without any changes and now all of a sudden it seems to care as to whether the individual places a 1 in front of the number in the subject line.

We also have GFI Mail Essentials. Is there a feature in Header Checking that could be grabbing these Faxes and Confirmations. Individuals are sending out the faxes from Outlook, but we are not seeing that they are going and they get no failure or success. I believe these particular faxes are going to multiple recipients.

There appears to be an issue when trying to send faxes through Outlook and sending to more than one recipient. It appears that if you send to one individual that it seems to work, but if you try and send to multiple users there is no activity on the fax server. I am trying to decipher if there is any commonality between how users are addressing the Outlook email that is converted into a fax. These individuals claim they have been able to send faxes all along, but then something seems to have changed and now they are no longer able to send to multiple recipients.

In further analysis, we have individuals who previously could send faxes by entering the fax number within a Microsoft Outlook Contact. As long as the Fax Number was listed within the Contact itself, the server would see this and begin to convert and fax it to the listed fax number. Now for some reason something has changed, whereas the fax server totally ignores the Outlook Contact fax number listed or does not interpret the fax number. It either doesn't see it or ignores it, but it never appears to show up within the Fax Queue. I tried to reproduce the issue myself. I had a fax contact which I have used in the past for our physical fax machine. I tried to send a fax using Outlook. Again, it never shows up in the Fax Queue at all. So my question is this, does Faxmaker 14.1 handle Outlook Contacts differently than in previous versions? Because this functionality used to work.

According to the GFI Faxmaker manual itself, individuals should be able to send faxes utilizing MS Outlook contacts that contain a "Business Fax". Taken directly from the manual, under "To send a fax from a Windows application", the ability to be able to send a fax using a Contact containing a "Business Fax" in the "To" field. This function no longer works for us and it previously did. From the manual: Now specify the recipient(s) of the fax: Click on the To... button. The Outlook address book will appear. Now select the Outlook Contact List and choose a recipient. You have to ensure that the recipient has a fax number entered in the Business Fax field. If he/she does, he will appear in the outlook address book with (Business Fax) behind his/her name. Click on the `To->' to add the recipient. You can add multiple recipients. Click OK when ready. Any ideas? Anyone? GFI, Anyone out there?

Hi, The contacts are handled exactly how they were handled before. However, keep in mind that in certain cases when editing the contact's properties from Outlook, it may change certain underlying properties and FAXmaker will not longer be able to find the contact. One of the workarounds for this is to open the contact, change the business fax property ( to anything ), save the contact, then re-open again, set correct business fax and save. After that it should work. Regards, Max Sushchenko GFI Software Ltd - www.gfi.com

I wish it were as simple as one or two people changing a contact and it not working. This is a more global issue that effects everyone across the board. There is functionality within Faxmaker that used to recognize Outlook Contacts containing Business Fax Numbers that no longer functions. This is not one or two people we are talking about. It is 50 people who no longer have functionality to a feature that no longer works.
