Over the coming days, I intend to take Mail Archiver offline in order to move a couple of years of SQL databases from one server to another.  Note - the current-month database is already on the new server and need not be moved, just all our past months' archive databases are on the old server.

This is a "newbie" question, but after I follow the documented procedure to stop MailArchiver, move the DB's, and bring MailArchiver back up, will the product then "synchronize" with the Exchange account where mail is being archived and capture all messages that were transacted while the product was down ?

Thanks

What will happen is mail will backup in your journal mailbox while the mail archiver service is down. Once mail archiver is running again it will start processing the messagesi n the journal mailbox.

I had mail archive go offline some time ago and thousands of messages accumulated in the journal mailbox. Once I got mail archiver back up it took no time at all to process the mail back log.
