I have a requirement to have two active mail archives available. I will refer to them as SQL1 and SQL2 since I will be using SQL 2005 as the database engine.

There will be users who need access to SQL1 and not to SQL2. All of these users messages will go into SQL1. All other users mail will go into SQL2.

Looking at the software I cannot see if this is possible. The reason I need to do this is that my client informs me that they need to have this separation in order to satisfy some regulation that the company is obligated to follow.

Hello snowmaker,

I'm afraid this will not be possible.
In MailArchiver there will always be 1 active database.
This would mean that all the messages end up in the same database irrespective of the user it belongs to.

You could of course work your way around this but this would mean that you will have to spend quite some time in order to obtain your desired results.
Where it comes down to is that you can configure a rule on the Journaling mailbox so that messages 'belonging' to certain users get placed in a separate folder.
Then (let's say once a week) you stop the MailArchiver polling process and select the other SQL database ('Archive in the following store' under the 'Archive Stores' section) before you visit the 'Mail Servers to Archive' section in order to direct the polling process to this separate folder. You wait till all the messages have been archived before you revert the changes you made.

Kind regards,
