Remote moderator was working fine, until I updated from 20030821 to 20031006. I didn't even know it wasn't working correctly for several days though. I can still process quarantined messages, as long as I don't want to "approve". As soon as a message is approved, using any rule to block it, it goes to a critical failure.

Approval of messages via the moderator on the server works fine, approval of messages from the quarantine public folder also works fine.
So, I can no longer approve messages from the remote moderator.

This error is listed in the gfiquarantine.txt file;
"Failed to read rule (0x8032180E)"
"AddQuarItem: Failed to read infringed rule (0x8032180E)"
"Error retrieving rule type of this rule! Cannot read global settings. (0x80004003)"
"Failed to read global rule Rule://globalsettings/ (0x803207DB)"
"No global Rule. Cannot read LOGOCCURENCE field"
"No Rule. Cannot read BLOCK field"
"No Rule. Cannot read NOTIFYSENDER field"
"No Rule. Cannot read NOTIFYRECIPIENT field"
"No Rule. Cannot read LOG field"

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm having exactly the same problem. Perhaps GFI can provide some insight.

There is a hotfix for this which I got from GFI Support and for once this one does work. You must be running Mail Security V8 build 20031006 or later.

Download the following file the instructions for use are contained in the zip file.

ftp://ftp.gfi.com/support/MSEC8_Patch_20031111.zip

Note that this isn't included in 20031007 and if you update your software you will have to reapply the patch.
