Since the fix over the weekend we've now had 8 updates (or at least 8 emails saying that new files have been downloaded and installed)...

What worries me slightly is that our signatures are showing 38069 and we are on build 2149 dated Dec 4 2003 - on the previous BitDefender thread someone was up to 60 thousand something on the signatures.

Can we have a concensus on what these figures should be?

Cheers

Martin

Ours is showing the same as yours - 04-Dec despite doing a "manual download"

Yes, same thing here. Bitdefender updated 20 times over the weekend?

More bad news - Norman updated 22 times over the weekend?!?!?!

Something is way wrong here - there just wasn't that many updates over the last few days, maybe 1 each...

What are your signature counts like - similar to the ones that I posted earlier?

I had the same thing with Norman, circa 10 updates and yet I still get an email each hour saying that it failed to connect to the FTP Server - this is for all four things that update! I got that fed up with it that I changed the update period to six hours and thats made no difference whatsoever, every hour on the hour an update failure. If I'm holding my lucky rabbits foot and facing in the right direction I get an update that works.

I also changed the email address it sends the updates to - successful ones go to one email address, failures to another (the original address) despite them both saying the same thing in the configuration app! How's that work then?

Any thoughts Patriza on what's happening here? (re the twenty or so updates?)

Cheers

Martin,

Exact same BitDefender signature info as you posted.

Not too sure what's going on here, or why all of a sudden now the Norman engine seems to have issues too?

I do have an open ticket with tech support on this, since 12/3 actually. I will post anything I hear or receive.

BTW; Thanks David V. for posting your response here as well, hope you continue to monitor.

Hi,

The repeated updating problem happened because over the weekend the FTP servers which hold the definition files where changed to new machines and for some time the date/time on the new machines was incorrect. This was changed to the correct date and now it should not happen anymore.

As regards to the amount of signatures we are in contact with BitDefender to see what is happening.

regards,

David Vella

David,

Do we have a status update on this issue yet? Two weeks ago you were attempting to contact BitDefender to resolve the updates. BitDefender appears to be updating, it has successfully twice in the last week. However, the date and number of signatures has not changed. I'm not confident that this issue is resolved.

Sure would be nice if you could respond...

Our signatures are now up to 38440, not sure when it changed but it has...however the issue still remains that we could be 30000 out compared to other people.

Any news from Bit Defender David, or are they as responsive as GFI seem to be on this issue???

BitDefender update this morning and it's back to 67294 signatures.

Issue resolution from GFI proves to be a truly frustrating experience. My confidence in both MailSecurity and MailEssentials is rapidly declining.

Hadn't had the BitDefender updates, but it had failed to update every hour for the last 10 hours so I rebooted the PC and still nothing... Did a manual update which updated to 67294 signatures.

Still, nice of Mike to let me know how many signatures I should have rather than the vendor answering... cheers Mike!
