Merging? in indexer

Status: offline 		I have been trying to get the system configured to go live.. sofr everything is fainlly making sence .. but now I have a new situation..

In the Search Index Management tab .. the status is MERGING?  What is that..

MARC6.. 2 users 40K emails
3 stores.. all say merging ..
In the stats for each store.. it has N/A beside the path to the index files.
When I go throught the config wizard for each store, it says index is Corrupt..

What exactly does "Merging" mean..
I'm not afrid of re-building theindex, however.. would like to know if it is doing it itslef, or if I have to trigger it?

Merging is the process when MailArchiver merges subindexes to the main index. By default indexes are set to merge at 2AM. However the actual process starts according to your indexing schedule, so for example if you set your indexing schedule to index immediately, it will start at 2AM by default. But if you set your indexing schedule to daily at 6:00AM indexes will be set to merging at 2AM but will start to merge at 6:00AM.
