Hi - I have NSS 8, Build 20080326 - The customer that I have installed this for has a very slow internet connection. I am attempting to setup the patch management and some patches will download, others will timeout. I can manually download all the patches that timeout. Is there a way to have NSS use the manually downloaded file?

You can place the manually downloaded patches in the Repository folder used by GFI. As long as the file name matches, we'll use the patch to deploy.

Thank you for your response. But, the file names that NSS uses when it downloads the files have a bunch of random characters in front of them. I downloaded a couple of the patches using the links provided in NSS and then put them in the repository folder, but they didn't have the random characters in the name and NSS didn't recognize them. Is there a way around that?

For the patch file names, you would need to locate the patch in the Configuration -> Scanning Profiles Menu -> Patches Tab. Right click on the patch and choose properties. You can find the file name we are expecting listed here.

As I have the same problems that some downloads failed on a fast Internet link, I look also for a solution to download the file manually as I have no idea wy the downloads from GFI failed ! As described I found informations about the patch but not the syntax like the existing files at the repository. For example the missig patch excel.cab MS08-057(955464) the related filename (GFI properties) are excel_83c8f95bc5c49acbc86fc3bbb17bb17aec2598c9.cab I copied this file to the related reositry\german directory and restart the software. As I want to deploy this software, L.N.S.S. needs still to download the software (not downloaded) I check the MS Homepage an found follow filename: officexp-KB955464-FullFile-DEU.exe Maybe I checed the wrong place for the right filename As you described At L.N.S.S "configuration tab" under "Scanning Profiles" I select "full scan" and at this config the "Patches" tab. Therefore I search the right patch (for Excel XP) select properties an get the follow screen Filename: EXEL.CAB File Size: 13.539 KB File URL http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/secu/2008/10/excel_83c8f95bc5c49acbc86fc3bbb17bb17aec2598c9.cab What did I wrong ? Thans in advance for any Ideas. Kind Regards Juergen
