We have one user here (user4@myorg.com in this example) that wanted to opt out of spam filtering, so we created a whitelist entry for her so that any e-mails destined for her e-mail address would pass through GFI ME unfiltered. So far this has worked well until this weekend. We started getting a rash of Viagra and Cialis spam messages in user inboxes because user4's e-mail was one of the ones CC'd on the spam message and GFI allowed the message to pass through.

Is it possible to address the way messages are handled where recipients include both exempt/non-exempt users?

From the whitelist log:

"11/02/09 10:52:25","Whitelist","airfoil67@museumsnett.no","user1@myorg.com,user2@myorg.com,user3@myorg.com,user4@myorg.com,user5@myorg.com","Womanizer's doping","","002a01ca5bed$58c913b0$0a5b3b10$@no"

I asuume the message was whitelisted for all users since "SMTP TO: user4@myorg.com" was in the whitelist...

HELP!

Thanks,
Helios

Hello,

Based on the way MailEssentials works, the condition in the modules affects to all the email. If the email matches the condition (recipient=user4@myorg.com), MailEssentials will approve the email, and will leave it back to the SMTP service. The email will therefore be delivered to all the recipients of the email.

There is no possibility at the moment to set up different filters or actions depending on the user, however it would be a nice feature request. You can propose this feature in the following thread:

Regards,
