I had an issue where no mail flowed on my server, even to/from users on the same database.

The issue was resolved by removing GFI MailSecurity!

GFI is now removed and I'm concerned about putting it back on.

History:
- Exchange 2007, SP1, w/Update Rollup 8
- I changed a setting, regarding which Smart Host I was using for internet mail delivery
- Thinking I needed to restart the "Microsoft Exchange Transport" service, I did so
- I didn't restart any other services
- No mail flowed after this event (not even on the same server and on the same database!!!)
- Rebooted: No change; Mail still did not flow (OK, now I'm getting scared!)
- I removed GFI, then things works

NOTE: I have had zero problems with GFI in the past 24 months.

- After this event, about two hours, I recceived ~20 event id 1025's and then 24 hours later, about a dozen 9877's. NOTE: These errors only occurred on one of my two Mailbox databases.

So...
Am I safe to re-install the latest build of MilSecurity???? I'm a bit concerned for two reasons:
1. Do I need to do anything to check my database before doing so? Searching on Event ID 1025 indicates I might need to do an ISINTEG, but since I've never done one, I'm concerned
2. Why did this happen? Was stopping and starting the Transport service something I should not have done?

I had a similar issue today with a SBS 2003. Mail suddenly stopped flowing and was stuck in the queue. I stopped the GFI MailEssentials services and was the same thing. I had to uninstall it in order for the e-mail to work. I will contact support to see what happened.

My problem was even worse. Mail disappeared into the ether! Nothing was queued. all was lost.

It was still in people's Sent Mail, so I just had them re-send.

But internet mail, inbound, was lost...

Hmoll,

Please check if you find the mails in question in <c:\program files\gfi\contentsecurity\mailsecurity\failedmails>. Probably your installation was affected by the situation described here: http://forums.gfi.com/GFI_MailSecurity_AVG_virus_scanning_engine_issue_which_affects_ALL_GFI_MailSecurity_10_installations/m_900776653/tm.htm
