I am running Windows 2000 server SP4, Exchange 2000, and ME9. Our server used to use about 500meg of memory, now is is using 2 GIG. What is going on, the memory size increases daily?

This did not happen before ME9.
I have it running on two servers at different clients (LATEST SERVICE PACKS INSTALLED) and I am having this issue. PLEASE HELP...

Hi,

1. Which process is taking up all the memory?

2. Do you have a virusscanner/backup software installed on the same machine?

3. Can you check the buildnr. of MailEssentials? (General -> Version Information)

1. Process that is taking memory is --> Store.exe 1.1 gig
inetinfo.exe 180 meg

2. Yes I have a virus scanner, Norton Corp. 7.6. I have excluded Exchange directory and GFI directory from realtime scans.

No Backup software on this machine.

3. Version 9.0 Build 20031003

Like I stated before, I did not have this issue before version 9...

Thanks
Jason

I am having the same problem.

Win2kSp4/ExchSrvSp3/Me9 Baynesian turned on.

Several WinXP clients complain about getting the outlook XP message "Requesting data from Exchange Server" message when sending, deleting, reading mail. They sometimes don't regain control of Outlook for MINUTES.

Please HELP!

I also was having the same problem but in my case I attributed it to MailSecurity not MailEssentials. Are you running MailSecurity on the same machine and if so are your BitDefender Updates Failing? After I got the BitDefender updates to stop failing the the memory issue seemed to be resolved also.

No, I am not running mail security. I had it on this machine once, and my server was running very slow (people always got requesting data from exchange server) so I got rid of it.

Well if that didn't fix the problem for me then one other thing I did about the same time was turn off "Automatically Learn From Outbound Mail" in the Bayesian Filter Options.

If you try this you might want to restart your server just to be sure all the memory is reallocated first.

Good Luck

Same issue here. Win2k SP4, Exchange 2k SP3, GFI ME 9 (same version as original poster, 20031003). No backup or A/V loaded.

After several days the handle count for STORE.EXE will climb as high as it can (I've seen it go well over 100K before stopping it) until it slows the server down to a crawl due to high memory usage.

Immediately after uninstallation of GFI ME9 the handle count drops back down to about 24K and remains stable. Would appreciate any advice, since my users really love this product.

Thanks

wow, the help is just *spilling* out of this forum. Hey GFI, why bother with a forum when you never read it?

Can all those who are having this issue, send your troubleshooter files and further information about this issue to support@gfi.com?

Try checking the contents of the SMTP virtual directories? These are by default located in c:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot. Check all the sub-directories in this location. Check if there is a directory that has a lot of files.

If the problem persists, better send the product's troubleshooting files to gfi support at support@gfi.com

Another thing that can be checked is if you have installed any patches when the problem started. By patches, I am meaning OS patches, Exchange patches and also mail essentials patches

Also, another thing that could be checked is the configuration file for mailessentials. How large is this file in your installations.
